Human Rights Actors, Civil Society Orgs. Attend Public Forum on Human Rights…in Maryland County

MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA-Several human rights actors and civil society organizations in Maryland County have benefited from a day-long public forum on human rights and democratic accountability.

The initiative was organized and facilitated by Messengers of Peace-Liberia, in partnership with Internews Liberia, with co-funding from the Liberia Media Empowerment Project.

Messengers of Peace-Liberia representative, Gabriel Varney, said,” The event was designed to bring together different sectors of the community, including civil society, women’s groups, and community leaders to openly discuss pressing human rights issues”.

In remarks, Maryland County Gender Coordinator Maria Suku, on behalf of the participants, thanked Messengers of Peace-Liberia for organizing such an educational forum.

She said,” Participants benefited greatly from the forum, which empowered them with knowledge on how to hold their leaders accountable for the use of public funds”.
