Multisectoral Steering Committee on Drugs and Substance Abuse concludes High-Level Meeting…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Multisectoral Steering Committee on Drugs and Substance Abuse has concluded a high-level meeting to discuss the operations of the temporary holding center for at-risk youth at the LRRRC compound in Johnsonville.

A Health Ministry release said the meeting brought together key stakeholders to explore ways to strengthen coordination, improve services, and ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of young people affected by substance use.

The release said Health Minister Dr. Louis Kpoto praised the team managing the center for their hard work under challenging conditions, and shared updates on ongoing efforts to improve the environment and expand support systems

She reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to collaborative, cross-sector solutions that are sustainable and impactful.

The release noted that the meeting ended with a shared commitment from all partners to continue working hand-in-hand to protect, empower, and reintegrate vulnerable youth into society.
