Liberia’s Gender Ministry Frowns on Increasing Violence against Children across Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Gender Ministry has condemned the increasing wave of violence being perpetrated against children across Liberia.

According to a Gender Ministry release, the act of violence not only violates the rights of children but also undermines the country’s commitment to national laws and international conventions and the rights of children.

The ministry said the deliberate and inhumane treatment inflicted on children in the guise of disciplinary measures should be abolished.

The release called on the Justice Ministry to ensure that all violators of children’s rights are prosecuted in line with the law.

The Gender Ministry said it remains committed to working along with parents, communities, civil society, and international partners to intensify preventive and responsive measures against child violence.
