Liberia’s Public Works Ministry Commits to Improving Roads Network across Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Public Works Minister Roland Giddings has committed the Public Works Ministry to engage donor partners to ensure improved road connectivity across the country.

Minister Gidding said,” The Liberian Government remains dedicated to the Public Sector’s integrity, transparency, accountability, access to information, and digital governance”.

He maintained that the ministry will also continue to ensure transparency in infrastructure development projects.

Minister Gidding expressed the Ministry’s resolve to keep engaging citizens, stakeholders, and the media to enhance transparency.

The Public Works Minister spoke on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Fourth Edition of the “Open Government Initiative” held at the Public Works Ministry in Monrovia.

At the same time, the ministry has revealed significant progress in the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of roads in the rural areas.

Assistant Public Works Minister for Rural Development, Isaac Vaye, said,” Currently, the Ministry is carrying out routine maintenance of various roads in the rural areas, as well as constructing key corridors to boost trade and movement”.

Assistant Minister Vaye also disclosed plans by the ministry to begin constructing key roads in Bong, Nimba, Lofa, and Gbarpolu Counties, among others.

The Open Governance partnership is a global initiative that promotes transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement in governance.
