Labor Minister Kruah Says Minimum Wage Board Reviewing Current Minimum Wage…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Labor Minister Cllr. Cooper Kruah says the Minimum Wage Board Chaired by the Ministry of Labor is reviewing the current stipulated minimum wage set at five dollar fifty-cents US for the Private Sector across Liberia.

According to Minister Kruah, the review of the minimum wage is meant to ensure that professionals, including engineers, nurses, and accountants are paid per sector.

Speaking in an interview at the Labor Ministry on Tuesday, August 20,2025, in Congo Town, Cllr. Kruah said,” Those with BSc and Masters in Geology and other professionals should be paid based on their profession and qualification”.

He entertained that the Board will take into consideration the qualification of professionals and non-professionals to ensure that they are paid as per their profession and qualification, even though the current minimum wage does not give a distinction.

Meanwhile, Labor Minister Cllr. Kruah said,” The inspectorate team of the Labor Ministry has revoked over twenty-five work permits in Monrovia and its environs.

According to Cllr. Kruah, the ministry has instituted about six inspectorate team across the country to audit the work permits of foreign nationals at various concessions in Montserrado, Bomi, and Nimba Counties.

Labor Minister Cllr. Cooper Kruah emphasized that work permits that have been revoked will give the opportunity to Liberians who are qualified to occupy those positions on a first preference basis.
