Nat’l Elections Commission Declares Sehwongbay Winner in Nimba County District-Five By-election

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission (NEC) has declared Kwagrue Sehwongbay as the winner of the just-ended August 12 Nimba County District Five By-Election.

Sehwongbay from the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) won with 4,795 votes, constituting 31.39 percent of the total 15,749 votes.

His closest rival, Barlea Bories, obtained 3,938 votes, constituting 25.78 percent.

The By-election was to fill the vacancy created in the district due to the election of Senator Samuel Kogar.

The Chairman of the National Elections Commission, Davidetta Brown-Lansannah, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, declared the MDR Candidate as the winner of the By-election.
