Liberian Gov. Opens Gbarnga Regional Passport Center

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Gbarnga Regional Passport Center has officially opened its doors to the public, assuring the Liberian Government’s commitment to bringing essential services closer to the people.

The program is designed to reduce congestion in Monrovia and ease access to passports for citizens in rural communities.

Addressing the press on Monday, July 4, 2025, in Monrovia, officials of the center addressed concerns over the issuance of adult birth certificates, which is a key requirement in passport processing.

The officials announced that the Ministry of Health is currently reviewing its policy and plans to decentralize adult birth certificate services by the end of August this year.

In the meantime, the center is accepting the National Identification Card as an alternative to passport processing.

They encouraged residents of Bong, Nimba, and Lofa Counties to take advantage of the newly operational facility.

Also speaking, a resident of Ganta City, Gardena Zahn, praised the Gbarnga Passport Center and the Liberian Government for its efficiency.
