Pres. Boakai Departs Liberia to Attend African Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai has departed the country to attend the African Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C., the United States of America.

President Boakai’s participation followed an official invitation extended to him by US President Donald Trump last week.

An Executive Mansion release says the high-level Summit aims at deepening diplomatic ties, advance shared economic goals, and enhance security cooperation between the US and selected African nations.

The release said President Boakai will join other Heads of state from Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, and Senegal during the Summit in holding bilateral discussions with President Trump on critical issues, including economic development, governance, and security.

According to the release, President Boakai’s visit will also focus on reinforcing Liberia’s long-standing partnership with the US and strengthening new areas of collaboration in health, education, and infrastructure.

The release named Foreign Affairs Minister Sara Beysolow-Nyanti, Minister of Finance Augustine Ngafuan, Nathaniel Kwabo, Director General of the Liberian Cabinet, and Samuel Kofi Woods, National Security Advisor as members of the Presidential delegation.
