Pres. Boakai to Attend High-Level Summit in Washington, D.C.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Joseph Boakai is expected to attend a high-level summit in Washington, D.C., the United States of America, early next week.

It followed an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to form part of the summit that aims to enhance economic cooperation and regional security.

President Boakai is expected to be joined by the Presidents of Senegal, Gabon, Mauritania, and Guinea-Bissau.

The summit, which is being coordinated through the U.S. State Department, in collaboration with the respective embassies in Washington, D.C, will mark a significant diplomatic engagement with Africa by the Trump administration.

Discussions at the three-day gathering will focus on expanding strategic economic agreements with African nations, especially in sectors vital to global supply chains.

Issues of security are also expected to take center stage at the gathering, including the fight against jihadism and the growing wave of regional threats such as drug trafficking.
