Some Ex-Officials of Liberian Gov. to Face Indictment for Alleged Failure to…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA- Criminal indictment, along with and arrest order, hangs over some ex-officials of Weah’s administration for allegedly failing to honor the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce’s invitations.

A statement issued over the weekend quoting the Chairman of the Taskforce, Cllr. Edwin Martin said:” We have observed that some individuals of interest have deliberately refused to honor our invitation, while others are actively evading the process.”

Cllr. Martin noted that those individuals’ alleged actions deliberately disregarded due process, thus undermining accountability and the rule of law.

The Team Head, however, revealed that they will do a second communication to the concerned persons of interest, noting that their failure to appear will leave the institution with no alternative but to proceed with the evidence in their possession for an indictment that will lead to their arrest and prosecution.

Though Cllr. Martin fails to name those individuals, his institution has since announced seventeen high-profile cases involving individuals who reportedly stole assets from the Liberian Government.

The Team’s warning followed their legal victory from the Supreme Court against the Management of Gracious Ride Incorporated, owned by the ex-Chief of Protocol, Finda Bondo.

Madam Bondo’s institution questioned President Joseph Boakai’s Executive Order 126, creating the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce in 2024, but failed to provide any legal proof before the Supreme Court regarding their claims against President Boakai’s Executive Order.
