Fmr. Finance Minister Tweah Surrenders to Criminal Court ‘C’

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former Finance Minister Samuel Tweah on Wednesday surrendered himself to Criminal Court ‘C’ to face prosecution for multiple offenses, including economic sabotage.

The Court confirmed that Mr. Tweah was accompanied by his lawyer, Cllr—Arthur Johnson, where his sealed indictment with the Writ of Arrest was presented to him.

However, he was prevented from being incarcerated at the Monrovia Central Prison after his lawyer submitted an eight million US Dollar Bond, setting the stage for litigation.

State Lawyers have three days as provided by law to question the credibility of Defendant Tweah’s Bond.

Samuel Tweah was indicted by the Grand Jury during the August Term of Court but had been outside of the bailiwick of the Country before surrendering himself to the Court.

The other inductees are Nyanati Tuan, former Solicitor General of Liberia, Jefferson Karmoh, former National Security Advisor, Moses Cooper, former Comptroller, of the Financial Intelligence Agency, and Stanley Forh, former Director of the Financial Intelligence.

The charges ranged from Economic Sabotage, Abuse of Public Funds, and Theft of Property.

They were indicted for allegedly stealing over six million US Dollars from the Government of Liberia.
