“There’s Need for Improved Collaboration between Liberia and European Film Industries” Minister Piah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah has stressed the need for improved collaboration between Liberia and European Film industries.

Minister Piah said:” Actors of the Liberia Film Industry can collaborate with their European counterparts in production, telling stories and performing arts to foster ties.”

The Information Minister made the comments on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, when he officially launched the EU-Liberia Film Festival 2024 under the theme “Social Justice and Advocacy through Films.”

Minister Piah emphasized the need for Liberian Film Industry actors to exert more efforts to tell the Country’s stories, share its history, and keep Liberians together through movies.

As part of the EU-Liberia Film Festival 2024, selected Liberian and EU movies will be screened at selected venues across the Country for fifteen days.

At the same time, the European Union Ambassador to Liberia, Nona Deprez, has expressed optimism that movies will bring the people of Liberia and the EU closer together and understand each other.

Ambassador Deprez said:” The people of Liberia and the EU are concerned about the same issues and face the same challenges, but movies will help bridge the understanding gap.”

She said she was happy that the EU-Liberia Film Festival could resume since the COVID-19 health crisis.

Movies screened during the fifteen-day festival will focus on women’s rights, culture, health, environment, and climate change, as well as war and love.
