Supreme Court of Liberia Reserves Ruling over Tenure Positions

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Supreme Court of Liberia has reserved ruling on Tuesday’s legal proceedings involving petitioners and the lawyers of the Government of Liberia over the tenure position saga.

The High Court heard five tenured cases forwarded by the petitioners, seeking to overturn the Presidential nominations.

They are Andrew Peters, Executive Director of the National Identification Registry, Reginald Nagbe, Director General of the National Lottery of Liberia, Attorney Garrison Yealue, Chairman of the Governance Commission, and Edwina Zackpah, Head of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority.

During the arguments, the petitioners described the Presidential nominations to tenured positions as unlawful, but, in contrast, the Government’s Legal Team, headed by Justice Minister Oswald Tweh dismissed any wrongdoing.

Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene Yuoh said:” In the wisdom of the Court, a consolidated ruling will be handed down to bring the matter to a logical conclusion.”
