US Envoy Rodriguez Challenges Graduates of LICOSES Teachers Training College

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Charge’ D’Affairs of the United States Embassy in Monrovia, Catherine Rodriguez, has challenged graduates of the LICOSES Teachers Training College to be examples of the next generation of educators.

Madam Rodriguez said:” The demonstration of the high level of professionalism, integrity, and respect in the teaching profession is meant to empower future leaders.”

She remarked on Saturday, February 24, 2024, when she served as Keynote Speaker at the joint commencement convocation of the LICOSES Teachers Training College in Johnsonville.

The US Envoy called on educators and education stakeholders to support and empower institutions that are involved in molding the minds of the future generation.

Madam Rodriguez also named respect for the rule of law, peace, and democracy as hallmarks of an educated and transformed society.

The US Envoy then reaffirmed the US Government’s support for the improvement of the Education Sector of Liberia.

Meanwhile, more than five hundred persons graduated from the LICOSES College in various disciplines.

The graduates include two hundred ninety-two males and two hundred sixty-five females in the areas of School Administration, Biology, and General Science, among others.

The President of the College, Dr. Benjamin Wheyee, said more than five hundred persons received ‘C’ Certificates, ‘AA’, and Bachelor’s degrees.

Dr. Wheyee noted that the College will continue to serve as a beacon of hope for aspiring teachers across the Country.

The LICOSES Head then lauded the efforts of the US Government, through USAID, for supporting the College in preparing the next breed of qualified teachers.
