Agriculture Minister Designate Assures to Adequate Manage, Enhance Productivity…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Agriculture Minister Designate, Dr. Alexander Nuetah, has assured his preparedness to adequately manage and enhance productivity in the sector if confirmed.

Dr. Nuetah said:” I will strengthen the Ministry of Agriculture and all agriculture training institutions to properly administer the sector and support agriculture development in Liberia.”

He said his first action as Agriculture Minister will be to re-establish the University of Liberia Farm to be used as a model for developing agriculture.

At the Senate’s confirmation hearing on Thursday, February 1, 2024, the Agriculture Minister Designate said:” My leadership will promote agriculture mechanization and improve farmers’ access to production technology and innovation.”

Dr. Nuetah also told the Senate that he will endeavor to strengthen the agriculture commodity market, and ensure that every agriculture market is standardized.

Meanwhile, the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs has postponed the confirmation hearing of Foreign Minister Designate, Sara Beysolow Nyanti.

The Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Abraham Darius Dillon, said:” The hearing was postponed due to circumstances beyond our control, and we have rescheduled for Monday, February 5, 2024.”

According to ELBC Legislative Reporter, the grounds of the Capitol and the Chambers of the Liberian Senate were overwhelmed with employees of the Foreign Ministry and various groups, among others.
