MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Several Ugandan medical practitioners are currently in Liberia to provide training for Liberian staffers of the National Leprosy and TB Control Program.

The Head of the Team, Namutebi Joanita said:” The initiative is aimed at empowering staffers of the entity to carry out effective Tuberculosis testing exercise in Liberia.”

Madam Joanita spoke in Congo Town at the end of a round-table discussion organized by the National Leprosy and TB Control Program.

The Ugandan Supranational Reference Laboratory Coordinator disclosed that their efforts will also focus on vigorous Tuberculosis awareness across the Country.

Madam Namutebi Joanita affirmed the Ugandan Government’s commitment to providing technical support to the Ministry of Health through the National Leprosy and TB Control Program.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health, through the National Leprosy and TB Control Program, has announced the conduct of a robust stool Tuberculosis testing exercise in Liberia.

National Leprosy and TB Control Program Manager, Rufus Saye, said:” The exercise will commence in February, this year, to curb TB in the Country.”

Mr. Saye, however, praised the Ugandan Government, the World Health Organization (WHO), and USAID for their unflinching support of the National Leprosy and TB Control Program.
