Peace Building Office Calls for Nat’l Reconciliation…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia Peace Building Office Executive Director, Edward Mulbah, is calling for national reconciliation among the citizens.

Mr. Mulbah said:” Despite political, ethnic, and religious differences, there is a heightened need for Liberians to unite and forge a better future.”

In an ELBC interview on Thursday, November 23, 2023, Mr. Mulbah called on the Liberian Government to make substantive strides to achieve national unity.

He indicated that the Government has been doing well over the years, but needs to do more to ensure national reconciliation among the citizenry.

Director Edward Mulbah also recommended several peace-building frameworks that could be used to ensure reconciliation is deeply rooted in the fabric of the society.

At the same time, Liberia’s Acting Peace Ambassador, Eric Sumo-Koiquah, wants both the incoming and outgoing governments to work collectively in addressing national unity.

Ambassador Koiquah said:” The country’s status of reconciliation is fragile, as much; there is a heightened urgency for both governments to unite and support the implementation of policy documents.”

He noted that the 2023 elections have developed national division which undermines and weakens good governing practices.

The Liberia Acting Peace Ambassador was speaking on the ELBC Super Morning Show on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

Ambassador Koiquah also hailed President George Weah for mustering the strength to concede defeat to his rival candidate, President-elect, Joseph Boakai, in the Presidential Run-Off Election.
