Nat’l Elections Commission Releases Progressive Results…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission of Liberia (NEC) has begun releasing progressive results in the just-ended Presidential Run-Off Election.

According to official progressive results released by the Commission, Unity Party (UP) Standard Bearer Joseph Boakai obtained one-hundred-ninety-three-thousand-forty-one votes, constituting 50.71%.

The Standard Bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), George Weah, obtained one-hundred-eighty-seven-thousand-six-hundred-fifteen votes, amounting to 49.29 %.

The latest figures are contained in the progressive national tallied consolidated results, announced by NEC Chairperson, Davidetta Browne-Lansanah, on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

The results are drawn from one-thousand-three-hundred-fifteen polling places out of five-thousand-eight-hundred-ninety-polling places across the country.

At the same time, the National Elections Commission has reported cases of disturbances at three voting centers in Montserrado County.

The NEC Chairperson named Kathleen McQuire in District Six, Chicken Soup Factory AGM School in District Twelve, and MVTC Precinct in District Two.

She noted that one of the Commission’s rented vehicles was damaged in District Six, while another was prevented from retrieving election materials in District Twelve in Montserrado County.

Madam Browne-Lansanah added that angry voters also attacked and wounded an electoral Supervisor in District Two.

Meanwhile, the National Elections Commission Boss said:” The Liberia National Police (LNP) immediately intervened to resolve the situation.”
