ECOWAS Distances Itself from Media Report…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-ECOWAS Country Office has distanced itself from media reports by the News Public Trust Newspaper, linking Election Observers to expressing disappointment in police investigators in the Foya violence.

According to a release issued recently, ECOWAS observers in Lofa County have neither commented nor expressed disappointment in any issue, including the Liberia National Police investigations into the unfortunate clashes that left two persons dead.

It says the mandate of ECOWAS Long Term Elections Observers (LTOs) deployed across Liberia is not to express views on issues, but to observe and report.

ECOWAS said it will continue to appeal to the Liberian media to continue to abide by the ethics and principles of the profession and refrain from acts that have the tendency to cause dissatisfaction, mistrust, and conflict.
