US Gov. Charges Liberia to Keep Commitment…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Charge d’ Affairs at the United States Embassy near Monrovia wants the Government of Liberia to keep to its commitment to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections.

Madam Catherine Rodriguez also called on the Government to hold accountable anyone who attempts to disrupt the process.

Madam Rodriguez said:” The US will closely follow the process, especially the organizational aspect, and we are urging the Government to give full financial backing to the National Elections Commission (NEC).”

She said,” The eyes of the world are focused on the country’s elections and how they are managed in a way that ensures fairness and transparency.”

The Embassy Official added that the US is prepared to assist in efforts to keep the elections free and fair, and will hold anyone responsible for engaging in activities to undermine the process.

Madam Catherine Rodriguez made the remarks on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, during her first roundtable with journalists at the US Embassy.
