Nat’l Red Cross Society of Liberia Releases Report on Flooding…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) has released an initial report on massive flooding in Bong and Grand Cape Mount Counties.

The Secretary General of the LNRCS, Gregory Blamo, said:” Nine-hundred-forty-one residents have been displaced from Kpatawee Resort, including residents of Rubber Factory, Civil Compound and Brooklyn in Bong County.”

Mr. Blamo said the affected residents are sheltering with relatives and friends.

He said:” My organization has begun identifying with two-hundred-seventy-four flood victims in Kru Town, Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County.”

Mr. Gregory Blamo said the initial assessment also revealed that heavy rainfall has resulted in a devastating impact on the various communities in Bong and Grand Cape Mount Counties.

At the same time, Bea Mountain Mining Company has identified with flood victims in Robertsport.

The Company provided food and non-food items as well as assorted medical supplies to the victims.

ELBC Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent said:” More than one hundred persons from the Kru Community were made homeless after water took over their homes.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the victims, the County Fiscal Affairs Superintendent, Varney Sheriff commended the company for the gesture.

Meanwhile, the flood victims have lauded Bea Mountain Mining Company for the gesture and appealed to the National Disaster Management Agency and goodwill individuals to help with building materials to reconstruct their homes.
