International Pharmacists Conduct Three-Day Clinical Trial in Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Several pharmacists from Germany, Gambia, and Sierra Leone are currently in Liberia to conduct a three-day vigorous Clinical Trial.

The move is intended to strengthen the operations of the Liberia Medicines and Health Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) and widen discussions on good clinical practices in the region.

Dr. Victoria Olaiye, a Clinical Expert from the Paul Erlich Institute affirmed the institute’s commitment to providing the LMHRA technical support at the end of the exercise.

Dr.Olaiye said:” The initiative will help strengthen the capacity of the Liberia Medicines and Health Regulatory Authority to achieve its goals in the region.”

She made the statement on Monday, September 4, 2023, during a press conference at the Liberia Medicines and Health Regulatory Authority.

Meanwhile, the Head of LMHRA, Ketura Smith Chineh, lauded Dr. Olaiye and the Paul Erlich Institute for their support and further praised the Sierra Leonean and Gambian Governments, especially the Sierra Board of Pharmacy and the Gambia Medicines Control Agency for choosing Liberia.

According to Madam Chineh, the Clinical Trial will target major health facilities in Liberia, especially the Redemption Hospital.

She said:” Healthcare operators should accord the pharmacists a friendly environment to carry out the exercise.”

Madam Ketura Smith Chineh is at the same time urging staff of the Liberia Medicines and Health Regulatory Authority to take the initiative to help widen their understanding to contribute to the country’s healthcare sector.
