Stakeholders Sign Resolution to Promote Peace…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Several stakeholders in Liberia have signed a resolution to promote peaceful elections on October 10.

It followed a three-day workshop on dialogue and mediation and interactive engagements with peace actors organized ECOWAS Commission in Liberia.

The stakeholders, in a communiqué, commit to continue engagement in the monitoring of the electoral processes, identification of conflict triggers, mediation, early warning, and response briefing to ensure peaceful elections.

The participants also agreed to encourage and promote unbiased and credible media reportage and to hold political parties and other relevant actors accountable to address concerns and avert violence.

The Secretary General of the Inter-Religious Council of Liberia, Rebecca Tarpeh-Major, read the communiqué on behalf of the body over the weekend in Paynesville City at the end of the three-day ECOWAS training.
