Pres. Weah Requests Nat’l Legislature to Extend Sixth Regular Session…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has requested the 54th National Legislature to extend its Sixth Regular Session by two weeks, beginning August 22 to September 5, this year.

It followed a proclamation issued by the Liberian Leader, calling on the National Legislature to discuss and act upon matters of national emergency and concerns.

According to a Foreign Ministry release issued on Thursday, August 17, 2023, the Proclamation is in line with Article 32 (b) of the 1986 Liberian Constitution.

The Sixth Regular Session, according to the release, shall adjourn on Friday, the 21st day of July 2023, in accordance with the aforementioned.

The National Legislature is expected to discuss and act upon issues centered on national development, integrity, transparency, and accountability.
