Suspect Wesseh Goes to Jail for Murdering Girlfriend

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Police in Monrovia have charged and sent to prison a man identified as Abraham Wesseh, for allegedly murdering his girlfriend in the Peace Island Community.

Suspect Wesseh told police investigation that he stabbed his girlfriend, Kate Irene Baby Johnson, with a knife out of jealousy on July 22, this year.

The investigation also revealed that on that fateful night, the suspected murderer went to the late Irene’s residence at Peace Community and demanded to sleep with her, but she refused to do so.

Prior to her death, Irene was rushed to the John Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Sinkor for treatment.

Meanwhile, suspect Abraham Wesseh is expected to face criminal prosecution during the August Term of court.

At the same time, the assigned Judge of Criminal Court ‘E’ has warned fellow judges against getting involved in political activities, while still serving the Judiciary.

Judge Madea Tarr Chenoweth called on judges and Magistrates intending to campaign for relatives and political parties to resign their posts.

Judge Chenoweth expects that judges and magistrates will not attend political party meetings, nor wear paraphernalia of political parties.

She said:” The law is firm on the neutrality of judges and magistrates, noting that such should be adhered to at all times.”

Such neutrality, she believes, will enhance public trust in the judiciary, especially as disputes emerge from this year’s Presidential and Legislative Elections.

The assigned Rape Court Judge made the remarks on Monday, August 14, 2023, when she delivered her charge at the opening of Criminal Courts A, B, C, D, and E.
