ECOWAS Resident Rep. to Liberia Calls on Political Parties to Adhere to Tolerance…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-ECOWAS Resident Representative to Liberia, Ambassador Josephine Nkrumah, is calling on political parties to adhere to tolerance, peace, and issue-based campaign.

Ambassador Nkrumah said:” The peace pledge signed by Political Parties and Leaders must be respected at all times.”

She expressed deep concern and condemnation over the toting of the casket by some supporters of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) during the opening of the campaign.

In a special statement issued on Monday, August 7, 2023, Ambassador Nkrumah emphasized that the hard-earned peace of Liberia must be protected by all Liberians regardless of political differences.

The ECOWAS Ambassador commended the National Elections Commission (NEC) for so far managing the electoral process effectively, despite a rough start to the campaign.

Meanwhile, ECOWAS says it remains committed to working with all parties to ensure the country’s electoral process showcases its growing democratic maturity.
