Liberia’s Two Main Political Parties Choose Peace over Violence…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s two major political parties have vowed to choose peace over violence during campaign period and Election Day.

They are the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and the opposition Unity Party (UP).

The official campaign runs from August 5 to October 8, 2023, while the Presidential and Legislative Elections are due to take place on October 10.

CDC Deputy Campaign Spokesman, Boakai Fofana, told ELBC Super Morning Show on Monday, August 7, 2023, that the Party’s campaign is issue-based and anchored on Government’s development.

At the same time the UP National Chairman, Luther Tarpeh, said:” Our Party has instructed supporters to carry on a peaceful campaign void of provocation.”

Chairman Tarpeh said:” Despite their political differences, they must hold the sacred commitment to jealously protect the country’s peace and stability.”
