Former Lawmaker Hans Barchue is Dead

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former Deputy House Speaker Hans Barchue is dead.

The Grand Bassa County Representative died early on Tuesday morning, July 17, 2023, in Monrovia at Europe Care Hospital, after a protracted illness.

Residents of District Number One in Grand Bassa County expressed sadness over the death of their representative.

The fallen Lawmaker was elected twice in the 2011 and 2017 elections.

He served as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives from January 2012 to January 2018 the 53rd National Legislature.

The two-term Lawmaker was seeking his third term in the pending October 10 Elections as an independent candidate.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Senate has sent a message of condolence to the bereaved family of the late former Deputy Speaker.

Speaking in Plenary on behalf of the Senate, Bomi County Senator Edwin Snowe described the death of the lawmakers as a great loss to the country.

Senator Snowe who worked along with the former Deputy Speaker recounted his immense contributions to the growth and development of the country.
