Senate Mandates Committee on Defense…to Investigate Reported Influx of Burkinabe…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Senate has mandated its Committee on Defense, Security, Internal Affairs and Good Governance to investigate the reported influx of Burkinabe in River Cess County.

The Senate’s decision was triggered by a complaint by River Cess County Senator, Wellington Geevon Smith on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

Senator Smith said residents of the county are displeased with the huge influx of Burkinabe and pleaded with the Plenary to quickly intervene in the situation to avoid disputes and future security threats.

Meanwhile, the Senate Joint Committee is expected to report to the Plenary next Thursday, July 13, 2023.
