Teenage Girl Forcefully Trapped into Sande Bush, Despite…

RIVERCESS COUNTY, LIBERIA-A teenage school girl has been forcefully initiated into the Sande Society in Boegeezay Town, Rivercess County.

Speaking to ELBC on Saturday, April 29, 2023, via mobile phone from Moweh District, the guidance of thirteen-year-old Nelly McClain said the little girl was initiated without her knowledge.

Madam, McClain said:” The incident happened on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, in Boegeezay, when the girl was led into the Sane Bush by another girl while selling bread”.

She is appealing for the release of her daughter through the Chairman of the National Traditional Council of Liberia, Chief Zanzan Karwor, and Rivecess County Superintendent, Bismarck Karbiah.

The latest initiation of a minor in Rivercess County is in total disregard to the Liberian Government’s three-year moratorium imposed on the practice of Sande activities.
