Senate Assures African Dev. Bank Delegation…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate Pro-Tempore, Albert Chie, has assured the visiting African Development Bank Delegation that the Senate will ensure violent-free election, through its oversight responsibility.

Pro-Tempore Chie also assured of transparency and good governance, as the Country moves towards the Presidential and Legislative Elections in October.

He said:” The passage of several Anti-Graft Acts, including the Anti-Corruption Act and the Financial Intelligent Unit elevation to a full agency, is indicative of the Senate’s willingness to good governance and transparency.”

Speaking earlier, the Head of Delegation of the ADB, Ahmed Zayed, told the Senate that the Delegation was in the Country to assure the Government of the Bank’s continuous support to road construction and improvement in the Energy sector.

Mr. Zayed said: “Domestic resources mobilization and reform need to be encouraged to help augment the strength of the National Budget.”

He said there cannot be a viable foreign direct investment in any country if there is no National Direct Investment.
