Gov. Provides 18-Million (M) USD to Nat’l Elections Commission

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Government has provided eighteen-million United States Dollars to the National Elections Commission (NEC), against twenty-million US Dollar budget of the Commission.

The money was provided by the Ministry of Finance for the ensuring voter registration exercise.

NEC Chairperson, Davidetta Browne-Lansanah, made the disclosure on Thursday, March 9, 2023,during a hearing at the Liberian Senate.

Speaking on the con duct of the October 10 Presidential and Legislative Elections, Madam Browne-Lansanah added that out of the ninety-one-million US Dollar Budget submitted, it was reduced to fifty-one-million, with only thirty-three-million allotted in the budget.

She maintained that the money is expected to be paid in three phases, beginning March 15 to May 15 of this year.
