Police Charged Woman with Murder for Killing Daughter

NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA-Report from Nimba County says a woman, aged 24, has killed her one-year-old daughter and secretly buried her corpse in a rubber bush.

According to police in the County, Pauline Toe, mother of the child, admitted to killing her daughter.

She told the Police her action was triggered by continued taunting and bullying of her by friends and neighbors for the ugly physical appearance of her child.

The Police preliminary investigation revealed that the baby died of suffocation, as her head was placed in water for an extended length of time.

The report says the act was carried out in the presence of 15-year- old Victoria Gonquoi, who was threatened by Pauline to remain mute about the incident on 5th January.

There are other accounts from community members helping with the investigation that Pauline has given birth to three children, but allegedly killed the first child by overdosing her.

Meanwhile, the child’s mother, Pauline Toe, is now being charged with murder, while her accomplice, Victoria Gonquoi, charged with criminal conspiracy and both have been transferred to Sanniquellie to face trial.
