All is set for Pres. Weah’s State of the Nation Address

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Legislature says all is set for President George Weah’s State of the Nation Address to that august body.

The House Committee Chair on Rules, Order and Administration, Nimba County Representative Johnson Gwaikolo, said both Houses are working assiduously hard to ensure the success of the address.

Representative Gwaikolo said:” Members of the Legislature are upbeat about the President’s address, expected to primarily focus on critical national issues, as well as Government’s achievements.”

The Nimba County Lawmaker said the Joint Chambers is being fully prepared to host guests and other dignitaries.

Representative Gwaikolo expressed optimism that the President’s address will awake the hopes and aspirations of Liberians, ahead of the October elections.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gwaikolo wants the Legislature prioritize the issues of health, education and infrastructure in the 2023 Draft Budget, adding that these three critical areas are key to the development and wellbeing of Liberians.

The Lawmaker said infrastructure is one of the surest ways of boosting economic growth, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

Representative Johnson Gwaikolo made the disclosure to ELBC on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

In another development, the Speaker of the House of Representative, Bhofal Chambers, has received the Cadres of Manneh Personality of the Year Award 2022.

The Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) Cadre Leader, Amara Brooks, said:” Speaker Chambers has demonstrated true leadership to uphold the sanctity of the National Legislature.”

Mr. Brooks, on behalf of his colleagues, hailed Dr. Chambers for his selfless commitment to duties and invaluable services to the Liberian people.

Receiving the award, Speaker Chambers lauded the Cadres of Manneh for the recognition and called on his colleagues to continue working in the best interest of Liberia.
