University of Liberia establishes the Philip Wesseh Academic Excellence in Journalism Award

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The University of Liberia (UL) has established the Philip Wesseh Academic Excellence in Journalism Award.

The award is under the auspices of the Department of Communications at the Amos Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The academic award is intended to uphold the legacy of an illustrious journalist and icon of print journalism in Africa, particularly Liberia.

The disclosure was made by the Dean of the College, Dr. Moses Gray, who represented the Administration of the University of Liberia at the funeral of the fallen media icon.

Dr. Gray said:” The Philip Wesseh Academic Excellence in Journalism Award will be given to an outstanding journalist who contributed to journalism, free press, academia, open society, the UL and human development.”
