Nat’l Elections Com. confirms Biometric Voter Registration System usage in 2023 General and Presidential Elections

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Elections Commission (NEC) says Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) System will be used in the 2023 general and Presidential Elections.

According to NEC Chairperson Davidetta Browne-Lansanah, the VBR will replace the optical mark used in previous elections.

Madam Browne-Lansanah said:” The registration exercise will begin on December 15 this year and ends on March 17, 2023.The exercise will be carried out in three phases and in three regions, and the team carrying out the BVR exercise will spread across the Country for three weeks.”

The NEC Boss maintained that the new system will prevent multiple registrations, eradicate voter impersonation and provide accurate information about voters among others.
