Golden Image Awards event set…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Organizers of this year’s Golden Image Awards (GIA) say all is now set for the hosting of the event.

GIA Chief Event Planner, Ambassador Julie Endee, told ELBC Monday, July 11, 2022, that preparations for this year’s national awards have been concluded.

The Liberia Crusaders for Peace Executive Director said:” Foreign guests and recipients will start arriving in the country on July 19, ahead of the main awards ceremony on Thursday, July 21, 2022.”

According to her, the recipients are drawn from the Middle East, Europe, the United States and Africa, respectively.

The Culture Ambassador noted that recipients are being recognized for their contributions to peace building, human rights and democracy, health and education.

Founded in 2010 by the Liberia Crusaders for Peace, the GIA has grown into a premiere national event and is being officially captured as part of Independence Day activities.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Endee said the Women Movement of Liberia will continue the vision and legacy of the late Roseline Toweh.

Madam Toweh, who died recently in Monrovia, was the Head of the Liberian Women Mass Action for Peace, and the Secretary General of the Young Women Christian Association (YWCA).

She said:” The late Madam Toweh will be remembered for her leading role in advocating for an increase in women political participation.”

Ambassador Endee said the death of Madam Toweh has created a vacuum in Liberia, when it comes to advocacy of women issues.

The Liberia Culture Ambassador further disclosed that a book of condolence for the late Roseline Toweh has been opened at the YWCA in Congo Town.
