First New One-hundred Liberian Banknotes arrive…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) says the first $4 billion new one-hundred Liberian banknotes have arrived in the Country.

According to a CBL release issued over the weekend, the banknotes are safely secured in the vaults of the bank, upon arrival over the weekend.

The   arrival of the banknotes at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) was observed by the Chairs of the House of Representatives and Senate Committees on Banking and Currency, IMF Resident Representative to Liberia, USAID Representative and the Resident Advisor to the CBL, Dr. Patrick Conteh.

The release, however, said CBL and Kroll will undertake a full technical validation process of the new banknotes in the coming days, to ensure they comply with the contractual terms.

Meanwhile, following the validation process, the CBL will make the new banknotes available to the people, through the commercial banks for the festive season.

The new banknotes are part of the 48.734 billion Liberian Dollars approved by the National Legislature in May, this year, to be printed.
