Liberia selected to partake in Summit for Democracy in the US

MONRO VIA, LIBERIA-Liberia has been selected to participate in the Summit for Democracy in the United States.

US Ambassador Michael McCarthy said:” Liberia was selected because of the Liberian Government’s consistent commitment to non-violent and free and fair elections.”

Ambassador McCarthy also said that the invitation is based on the Country‘s improving democratic credentials, ranging from the last presidential elections and the peaceful transfer of power.

The US Ambassador made the remarks on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, during a media roundtable at the US Embassy in Monrovia.

Ambassador McCarthy, however, stressed that the Democracy Summit is not for leaders to celebrate themselves, but a call to renew actions and commitment to the tenants of democracy.
