Fmr. Defense Minister begins refunding Soldiers’ Pension Money

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former Defense Minister and Lofa County Senator-elect, Brownie Samuka, has begun restituting the pension money of soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia, at the Eco Bank.

The restitution followed Criminal Court “C”’s April 22, 2020, Conviction Verdict that was later affirmed by the Supreme Court of Liberia on February 8, 2021.

Mr. Samuka and two of his deputies, Joseph Johnson and Nyumah Dokor, were convicted for misusing over one-million United States Dollars of the Soldiers’ Pension, Funds during the regime of former Liberian President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Several men and women believed to be citizens of Lofa County on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, presented a manager’s check of ten-thousand United States Dollars to Mr. Samuka’s Lawyer, Cllr. Augustine Fayiah, at the Temple of Justice who later turned it over to the court.

Criminal Court “C” Judge, Blamo Dixon, confirmed the check of ten-thousand USD, which is fifty-percent of the Supreme Court’s judgment of over one-million USD.

Judge Dixon said:” Upon receipt of the check, it was immediately deposited in the AFL Morale and Welfare Account at Eco Bank.”
