Executive Protection Service (EPS) Agent shoots himself to death

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-An agent of the Executive Protective Service (EPS) has reportedly shot himself to death in Tappita, Nimba County.

Melvin Earley reportedly shot himself twice, while on duty during the early morning hours of Friday, February 19, 2021.

Confirming the incident to ELBC, Information Minister, Ledgerhood Rennie, said investigation into circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.

Minister Rennie is, however, urging the public to remain calm while the relevant authorities probe into the incident.

Agent Melvin Earley has been serving in the EPS since 2005, during its pre-war restructuring.

 Meanwhile, the Executive Protection Service (EPS) has expressed regrets over the sudden death of its Agent, Melvin Earley.

According to preliminary reports, the long serving EPS Agent shot himself at about 06:03 on Friday morning, February 19, 2021 in Tappita, Nimba County.

In a statement, the EPS says it has launched a full-scale investigation to establish any potential reason behind the suicide.
