Liberia marks 64th Armed Forces Anniversary with limited pageantry amid COVID-19 restrictions

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Liberia is today observing the 64thg Anniversary of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) as a national holiday across the country.

The day according to a proclamation is being celebrated without the usual parade of the military in adherence to the prescribed COVID-19 health protocols.

The proclamation is in consonance with an Act of the National Legislature declaring February 11, 2021, each year as “Armed Forces Day”.

The day recognizes the vital role of the AFL in defending and protecting Liberia’s territorial integrity. Meanwhile, all government offices and business houses are to be closed from 6AM throughout the country in observance of the day.
