MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Defense Minister, Daniel Ziakan, says there will be no parade by the Armed Forces of Liberia on February 11, 2021, to mark the traditional way of AFL Day celebration.

Minister Ziakan said the change re-iterates the AFL’s commitment to adhering to all health protocols against COVID -19 that has already taken the lives of many globally.

In an ELBC interview Friday, Minister Ziakan disclosed that the Commander-In-Chief (CIC) of the AFL, President George Weah, will deliver his speech at the Edward Beyan Kessellie Barracks in front of limited audience, in adherence to COVID-19 health protocols.

According to him, the Heads of the Legislature, Judiciary and the Minister of Justice will join few other senior Military Personnel in audience, where the CIC will deliver his AFL Day Speech.

The Defense Ministry Boss maintained that President Weah’s speech will be relayed to other Barracks across Liberia to allow soldiers there listen to the Commander in Chief during Thursday’s event.
