Chief Justice urges Public Defenders to effectively serve justice

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Chiief Justice Francis Korkpor says the representation of Public Defenders for indigent clients has not been adequately served.

Chief Justice said:” Comprehensive representation should be continued until justice is adequately served.”

The Chief Justice further said if clients are in jail or acquitted, the Public Defenders must ensure that justice is done and served, especially where Pre-trial Detention has gone beyond the statutory period.

He emphasized that pre-trial is cardinal and as such, Public Defenders must ensure that prisons are depopulated.

Chief Justice Korkpor made the remarks on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at a two-day working session for Public Defenders at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia.
