Nat’l Elections Commission begins certification of senators-elect

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The National Elections Commission (NEC) has officially certificated five of the newly elected Senators in the just ended Special Senatorial Election.

Those certificated Wednesday, January 6,2020, include Abraham Darius Dillon of Montserrado County, Yongblee Kangar-Lawrence of Grand Bassa County, and Jonathan Boy Charles Sagbeh of River Gee County.

Others are Emmanuel Nuquay of Margibi County and Prince Moye of Bong County.

Speaking Wednesday during the Certification Ceremony at the NEC Headquarters in Sinkor,  the Chairperson of the Commission, Davidetta Brown- Lansanah  said  election is everybody’s  business as such everyone must ensure  that the process is peaceful.

Madam Lansanah then paid tribute to the Liberian Government and partners for the support to the Commission.

She also lauded Local and International Observer Groups for their positive roles in the electoral process.

Meanwhile, the NEC Chairperson wants relevant authorities investigate cases of electoral violence and bring perpetrators to book.

Speaking on behalf of the Certificated Senators-Elect, Montserrado County Senator-Elect, and Abraham Darius Dillon promised to work along with government for the betterment of the Country.
