National Referendum: NEC Clarifies Two Thirds of each proposition for approval consistent with Liberia’s Election Laws

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The National Elections Commission(NEC)has clarified that two thirds of each proposition is required for approval of the National Referendum consistent with the Election Laws of Liberia.

NEC Chairperson Davidetta Brown-Lasanah quotes Section 4A.4 of the Election Law on Referendum as question in a fraction of two thirds required for approval of a question in a referendum is calculated by dividing the number of valid votes cast on the question.

Madam Brown-Lasanah said: “If the two third requirements is done, the proposition is approved, if not, the proposition is rejected”. She spoke Thursday, December 17, 2020, when she released preliminary results of the referendum from Bomi and Grand Bassa Counties.
