Executive Mansion reacts to rumor that Pres. Weah was in Buchanan to influence…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Executive Mansion has sharply reacted to rumors that President George Weah, on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, travelled to Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

It was reported on the social media by some members of the opposition that President Weah was in Grand Bassa County, to influence the changing of the election results in the area.

But reacting to claims Thursday, December 10, 2020, Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, Smith Toby, termed the information as misleading and fabricated lies.

Mr. Toby said:” The last time President Weah went to Grand Bassa County was during the campaign period, when he participated in a political rally for the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) candidate in the County.”

Mr. Toby said:” Such rumor has the propensity to sway away the focus of the Liberian people on the transparent nature of the election.”

According to him, President Weah signed the Book of Condolence for the late former Ghanaian President, Jerry John Rawlings, and held meetings with international partners, contrary to the claim.
