Pres. Weah tours major Gov.’s projects

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, toured major Government project sites in Montserrado and Margibi Counties to assess the status of the project.

President Weah inspected the Johnsonville Road project on the outskirt of Monrovia and the Executive Mansion on the Capitol Hill, where renovation works are ongoing.

At the Executive Mansion, President Weah inspected few floors and used the time to urge contractors to speed up the project which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2021.

The Executive Mansion was constructed in 1964, but was destroyed by fire in 2006 and has since been under renovation.

According to an Executive Mansion released issued Tuesday, November 10, 2020, the tour is the recommencement of the Liberian Leader’s usual inspection of infrastructure projects, especially as the Rainy Season draws to an end.

President Weah also met contractors and consultants working on the construction of the Roberts International Airport (RIA) Highway, as civil works on the road began.

He urged the workers to be diligent during the construction, stressing that the road will not only facilitate commuters to the airport, but will also serve as a safety gear for motorists.

The 45-kilometers RIA Road runs from the airport in Margibi County to the ELWA Junction in Montserrado County.

The project has thirty-six-month time frame and expected to be dualized with four lanes, two concrete bridges and two toll gates along the route.

In remarks, Acting Public Works Minister, Ruth Corker-Collins, assured the road will be constructed with quality and better technology to meet the expectation of the Liberian people.
