SWAL Hails LFA for Inclusion Into COVID-19 Relief Funds

The Leadership of the Sports Writers Association of Liberia has described as timely and meaningful the inclusion of the Pen pushers into the FIFA COVID-19 relief funds.

According to the President of SWAL Kolubah Zayzay, the decision by the Local Football House is a wise one terming such as a commendable step taken in the right direction.

He disclosed that the new leadership on August 25, 2020 as part of the FA fulfillment of its commitment to SWAL made available a check of $USD 2,500.00.00 (two thousand five hundred) which was received by President Zayzay at a brief ceremony on Tuesday.

“The inclusion of SWAL into the FIFA COVID-19 relief funds is a clear manifestation of our true partnership and collaboration with the LFA and we are grateful and remain committed to upholding such partnership for the benefit of the two parties“, The SWAL boss noted.

Mr. Zayzay at the same time hailed the LFA for the gesture and promised that in close consultation with the leadership and the executive committee, the funds released will be used for its intended purpose and in the best interest of the entire membership of SWAL.

The gesture by the LFA is the second of its kind since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It can be recalled that the LFA during the heat of the lock down period in Liberia donated Cash and food items to members of SWAL.

The funds released according to the LFA, is an initial amount to SWAL as part of the FIFA & subsequently CAF COVID-19 relief envelop.

According to a release signed by SWAL Secretary General, Julius Konton, all heads of appointed standing committees are to attend an emergency meeting slated for Saturday August 29, 2020 at 12:00 noon at the Eagle Square on the Old Road.

The Sports Writers Association of Liberia is an auxiliary of the Press Union of Liberia and has over the period championed the advocacy for its members relative to welfare, capacity building, traveling opportunities and many others.
