Monrovia City Court summons MOVEE’S Acting Chairman, Dan Saryea

The Monrovia City Court has summoned the Acting Chairman of the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE), Dan Saryea, for alleged criminal coercion.

Mr. Saryea is expected to appear in court this Thursday to answer to a complaint filed by embattled MOVEE Secretary General, Robert Sammie.

According to the writ of summon, on May 25, defendant Saryea,   with malice and wicked intent, purposely and intentionally accused Mr. Sammie on a local radio station of being a criminal and that he has stolen a vehicle, computers and other items.

The writ further said the accusation did not only tarnish Mr. Sammie’s reputation, but did subject him to hatred and ridicule.

It added that the MOVEE Chairman’s alleged act is in violation of Section 14.27 of the New Penal Law of Liberia.

Meanwhile, MOVEE Chairman Emeritus, James Brookes, says the party remains in strong collaboration with the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

Mr. Brookes said any partnership with another party is declared null and void until consultations are held with the Supreme Board considered as the Party’s highest decision making body.

Mr. Brookes is therefore urging members of the party to remain united in supporting the CDC-Led Government to continue leading Liberia in the right direction and to win the fight against the Corona virus.

Meanwhile, the MOVEE Chairman Emeritus has described as illegal the expulsion of the party’s Secretary General, Robert Sammie.

Mr. Brookes asserted that the party’s constitution states that any decision taken by the Executive Council must be sanctioned by the Supreme Board.
